Landry bests incumbent for District Judgeship, other judicial election results

The votes have been counted, and the 23rd Judicial District will swear in a new judge in January.  Kim Landry won the District A seat on the local bench over two-term incumbent, Jason Verdigets in a closely contested race.  Contested in three parishes, Landry totaled 52% (22,867) votes against Verdigets (21,470 votes).

Landry won the race in Ascension Parish where 53% of the ballots were cast for the Judge-Elect (17,312 votes for Landry, 15,582 for the incumbent), while garnering 51% of the vote in St. James.  Verdigets did 54% in Assumption but the 450-vote margin was not enough.
