Remembering ten years ago today – 2016 flood begins:
It’s not that we want to remember and keep bringing up the 2016 flood, because we want to hurt people’s feelings are always remember the negative things that began ten years ago today. But more of what I call a continued healing process for all of us and our families that went through that un-named natural disaster.
Ten years ago TODAY is when it all began, little did we know what we would all be facing after today. Today’s when we started shutting down roads (22) roads were closed today on both sides of the river, and today is the day we closed the schools. Today was also the day we started sandbagging many-many homes.

Little did we know today, ten years ago today, that the sandbags were not going to hold. That no matter what we did, even if we could predict the future, little did we know, no matter how hard we all worked as a community, we were not going to keep the water out of our homes, our schools, our fire departments or our local business’s.
More to come over the next couple of days, as we organized a Command Structure for the next 28 days around the clock at The Venue off Hwy. 431, just about the only location in the St. Amant Community that did not flood in 2016. A command structure that would indeed bring a President of the United States of America to a small community called St. Amant Louisiana.
Today, ten years later, I look where we have come and where we are today. It was a family community event. Still remember the saying we developed in 2016 – “Our hearts were shattered, but our faith remains strong.”
