Depicting Jared “Burger” Beiriger as a developer with former ties to Quality Engineering, and a supporter of Corey Orgeron and Murphy Painter, a third-party mail piece hit mailboxes in Council District 9 yesterday. One of the fattest hogs at Ascension’s trough, Beiriger squealed like a pig (think Ned Beatty in Deliverance) on social media, whining about a “last minute smear” attributed to his opponent. Unfortunately for Burger, facts matter, and every claim in the mailer is sourced, compared to…
lacking even a scintilla of proof.
Suckling at the government and development teat for more than two decades, we would have thought this hog had a thicker hide. If the day ever comes when Jared Beiriger is the arbiter of truth versus lies, facts versus hogwash, Ascension will find itself in a real fix.
Pam Alonso had nothing to do with the piece, we can declare with the absolute certitude engendered by first-hand knowledge of its source. Alonso, had she had any foreknowledge, almost assuredly would have demurred (though we hope she enjoyed it as much as we did). If you’re wondering about the source, consider that multiple of the mail piece images came from Pelican Post.
Every assertion of fact is thoroughly, and accurately, sourced. Expressed opinions are, we believe, shared by every resident of Ascension Parish frustrated by uncontrolled development for which Burger and “his development cronies” pocketed untold millions.
Why would anyone vote to bring Burger back to Ascension’s Parish Council (he occupied the District 11 seat from 2004-07)? Late of Quality Engineering & Surveying, he left under a cloud and rampant rumors of wrongdoing, but not before the firm engineered well over half of every residential lot approved by Ascension’s Planning Commission.
Pam Alonso represents everything that Burger does not (honesty, integrity, respectfulness, fair-dealing, character…we could go on).
Squeal all he’d like, nothing can change those facts.
