Who’s on Ascension Parish Congressional ballot?

Three Congressional elections will appear on Ascension Parish ballots on November 3, the race for U.S. Senate and two contests for the House of Representatives.  The ballot was set as of 4:30 p.m. on Friday when qualifying came to an end.

UNITED STATES SENATOR

This contest was set back in February when party primaries were contested.  The two-term incumbent, Bill Cassidy, failed to advance to the Republican Primary runoff that pitted current District 5 Congresswoman Julia Letlow against State Treasurer John Fleming.  With President Donald Trump’s endorsement, Letlow bested Fleming in a contest that was not all that close.

Letlow will face the Democrat nominee, “Jamie” Davis.

DISTRICT 2 – HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Democrat incumbent, Troy Carter, will be the favorite against four others:

  • Walter “Rocky” Beach (of Gonzales, according to the Secretary of State) – No Party.
  • Lisa Ballay – Libertarian
  • Renada “Honey” Collins – No Party
  • Peter Williams – Republican

DISTRICT 6 – HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

A crowded field of ten candidates, includes:

  • Monique Appeaning – R (St. George)
  • Chauna Banks – D (Baton Rouge)
  • Rufus Craig – Libertarian (Baton Rouge)
  • Larry Davis, III – R (Denham Springs)
  • “Rick” Edmonds – R (Baton Rouge)
  • Patrick “Pat” Forbes – D (Baton Rouge)
  • Lindsay “Rubia” Garcia – D (Walker)
  • Michael Mebruer – R (St. Francisville)
  • Blake Miguez – R (Baton Rouge)
  • Stephen Wagley – R (Baton Rouge)
