As a result of multiple tips received, deputies identified Byron Buie, 70, of Prairieville, as a person of interest. During the course of the investigation, information obtained from Buie led deputies to make an arrest in connection with the August 10 hit-and-run that caused significant damage to the cemeteries on Highway 933.
The vehicle ran off the roadway and traveled through two cemeteries, causing more than $10,000 in damage to graves, caskets, and cemetery fences. Surveillance video of the incident is posted below. Along with a still image of the vehicle posted in the comments. We’re asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the owner and driver of the vehicle.
Byron Buie has been arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on:
