NOTE: EA Drainage’s Vice Chairman, Chase Melancon claims to have known nothing about the effort to oust President Clint Cointment as de facto Drainage Director while Councilman Aaron Lawler claims to have been working on it for 3.5 years. Someone is not telling the truth. Lawler’s social media post from yesterday:
Professionals, not Politicians. Drainage is a full time job and deserves 100% of the CEO’s attention. This plan has been in the works for over 3.5 years, well before this Parish President. The first step was changing the pay structure of the Parish President, which was done during the Matassa administration. Now we hire a drainage professional to help us transition to a full time, qualified Drainage CEO. This person will kick start drainage improvements and help us identify and hire a long term Drainage CEO. The final step will be getting legislation changing EADC to pumping district and setting forth qualification to sit on the EADC like other parishes and counties. I envision a future EADC that has 12 members, all qualified and appointed by council and the parish president. To be clear, this plan is about the future and has nothing to do with this president.
