Keeping AI in America is a matter of national survival

To the Editor:

I’ve watched this country give away its advantages for decades. We let other nations take our manufacturing. We let them take our supply chains. And now there are people in Washington who would let them take our lead in artificial intelligence, too. Not on my watch, and I hope not on yours.

Keeping AI in America isn’t just good economic policy — it’s a matter of national pride and national survival. China isn’t playing games. They want to be the dominant power in this technology, and every advanced chip or AI system that ends up in their hands gets them one step closer. That’s not fearmongering. That’s the reality.

The good news is Louisiana is already in position to win. Data centers are coming here. Energy infrastructure is being built. The jobs and investment that come with the AI economy can land right here in our state — but only if Washington holds the line and keeps America first.

President Trump gets this. America First means we don’t hand our future to our competitors. We build it ourselves, on American soil, with American workers.

Louisiana is ready. Let’s make sure Washington doesn’t blow it.
