Jamie Davis was the top vote-getter in Saturday’s closed Democratic Primary for the 2026 US Senate seat currently occupied by Bill Cassidy. Davis garnered 47% of the vote, followed by Gary Crockett and Nicholas Alberes, each of whom received 26% of the vote.
According to the Secretary of State, Crocket received 90,764 votes against Alberes’ 90,480. Should the second-place finisher stay in the race, the runoff is scheduled for June 27
Davis performed even better in Ascension where he garnered 49% of the vote compared to Crockett (27%) and Alberes (24%).
From the Davis campaign:
We did it, Louisiana! When I stepped up to run for the U.S. Senate because the “big names” refused to, the political insiders didn’t know what to make of a farmer from Waterproof. But tonight, we proved that working families are ready for a different kind of leader.
Now, we turn our attention to the runoff election. Washington has enough politicians; what it needs is a farmer. Let’s bring this home!

Jamie Davis, assuming he is the Democrat candidate, will be a prohibitive underdog in the November 3 election.
