  • Violation of a Protective Order

When officers attempted to make contact, Wesley fled into an apartment at Magnolia Crossing and refused to surrender, resulting in a barricaded subject incident.

The Gonzales Police Department activated its Special Response Operations Team (SORT) and Crisis Negotiation Team. Out of an abundance of caution, nearby apartments were evacuated while negotiators worked toward a peaceful resolution.

After several hours of negotiations, Wesley surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody without incident.

During the operation, officers also identified and arrested a second wanted subject, Khalil Kei Juan Wesley, 23, on outstanding warrants from Lafourche Parish.

No officers, civilians, or suspects were injured during the incident.

“When situations like this occur, our priority is always the safety of our residents, our officers, and everyone involved,” said Chief Sherman Jackson. “Today’s outcome reflects the value of training, teamwork, and patience. Thanks to the efforts of our personnel and our law enforcement partners, this incident was resolved peacefully and two wanted subjects were taken into custody without anyone being harmed.”

The Gonzales Police Department thanks the residents of Magnolia Crossing for their patience and cooperation during today’s incident.

Public safety is everyone’s responsibility. Like, share, and follow — together we’re safer and stronger.
