Gonzales PD awarded Highway Safety Grant

The Gonzales Police Department is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission (LHSC) to support enhanced traffic safety enforcement in our community.

This grant provides supplemental funding that allows officers to work additional overtime hours dedicated to traffic safety enforcement, with a focus on four key areas:

🚗 Seat Belt Enforcement – Promoting seat belt use and occupant safety.
📱 Distracted Driving – Addressing dangerous driving behaviors, including unlawful cellphone use.
🚫 Impaired Driving – Identifying and removing impaired drivers from our roadways.
🛑 Juvenile Underage Drinking Enforcement (JUDE) – Addressing underage alcohol access and consumption to reduce alcohol-related risks.

These additional enforcement efforts supplement regular patrol operations, allowing our officers to dedicate more time and resources to preventing crashes and addressing dangerous behaviors on our roadways.

Through our continued partnership with the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, we remain committed to reducing preventable crashes, protecting lives, and keeping Gonzales roadways safe for everyone.

Safer roads. Stronger community. Every life matters
