Gonzales man arrested for Child Sexual Abuse Materials

Detectives with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Charles Crawford, 41, of Gonzales on 119 counts of Child Sexual Abuse Materials, 64 counts of Child Sexual Abuse Materials Under 13, and one count of Sexual Abuse of an Animal

On April 28, 2026, the APSO Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received information regarding possible child sexual abuse materials associated with a personal electronic device that was later turned over to APSO ICAC for further investigation.

Through a search warrant, detectives with the ICAC Task Force located several video files depicting child sexual abuse materials on the device, including files involving children under the age of 13 and one depicting sexual abuse of an animal. Investigators determined the device belonged to Crawford, a registered sex offender, and that he had accessed and downloaded the files.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Crawford, who was already incarcerated at the Ascension Parish Jail on unrelated charges. Crawford was booked accordingly.

UPDATE:

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office would like to thank Louisiana Probation and Parole for their assistance and collaboration throughout this investigation. During a separate investigation, Probation and Parole agents located the initial files, secured the device as evidence, made the initial arrest, and later coordinated with APSO ICAC investigators by turning over the device for further forensic examination
