Another innocent life has been stolen by mindless thugs who despise law, order, and human life itself. We are done waiting, and we are done watching our community bleed. Enough is enough.
I have spoken directly with Speaker of the House Mike Johnson this morning and he conveyed his deepest concern and support. He said the full weight of the federal government is prepared to aid Louisiana as we respond to this string of violent incidents. I’ve also spoken to Governor Jeff Landry, East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Sid Edwards, and St. George Mayor Dustin Yates. They are all 100% supportive. We are drawing a line in the concrete.
The men and women of the Baton Rouge Police Department and the East Baton Rouge Sheri ’s O ice are some of the finest in the nation. They are heroes. But right now, they are fighting an urban war they shouldn’t have to fight alone. They need reinforcements, and I am going to get it for them.
It is time for Federal law enforcement to roll into Baton Rouge in droves. The mandate will be simple: take on, or take out, the violent gangs holding our city hostage. We will reclaim our streets and our home.”
