The Ascension Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce Jackie Tisdell, Director of Communication for Ascension Public Schools, as the 2026 recipient of the Women in Leadership Award, presented at the 10th Annual Women in Business Experience.
This milestone year marked a decade of celebrating the women who are shaping the future of Ascension Parish through leadership, innovation, and service. Tisdell was selected from an outstanding group of finalists for her lasting impact on education, communications, and community engagement.
In her role with Ascension Public Schools, Tisdell leads all internal and external communications efforts, strengthening connections between the district and the community. Under her leadership, the district has earned 23 national communications awards, including a Silver Telly Award and multiple honors from the National School Public Relations Association. She was also named the 2024 Louisiana School Communicator of the Year and recognized nationally for her work.
“Jackie exemplifies what this award represents,” said Donnie Miller, President and CEO of the Ascension Chamber. “Her leadership, professionalism, and commitment to serving others have made a meaningful and lasting impact across our parish. She is a true champion for education and for our community.”
Beyond her professional achievements, Tisdell is deeply engaged in Ascension Parish through her service and leadership. She is a graduate of Leadership Ascension and has played a key role in community projects that have raised millions of dollars for local initiatives, including an all-abilities field in Gonzales. She has also served in leadership positions with the Leadership Ascension Foundation and the Louisiana School Public Relations Association, among others.
The Women in Leadership Award is presented annually as part of the Women in Business Experience and is voted on by the Ascension Chamber Board of Directors. The award honors a woman who demonstrates exceptional leadership, professional excellence, and a commitment to advancing the community.
