APSO arrests two Prairieville men for battery, gang activity

Detectives with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit have arrested two men in connection with a violent assault that left one victim unconscious and hospitalized.

Luis Olivas, 38, of Prairieville was charged with:

  • Principal to Second Degree Battery
  • Felony Theft of a Motor Vehicle
  • Criminal Street Gangs and Patterns of Criminal Street Gang Activity
  • Simple Assault
  • Disturbing the Peace

Anthony “Papoose” Gregoire, 38, of Prairieville was charged with:

  • Second Degree Battery
  • Criminal Street Gangs and Patterns of Criminal Street Gang Activity

On May 29, 2026, deputies responded to a report of a fight in a parking lot along Oak Plaza Avenue in Gonzales. Upon arrival, deputies located a victim suffering from serious head injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

During their investigation, detectives learned the victim was attempting to move his vehicle to another parking area when one of the suspects entered the vehicle and attempted to drive away. As the victim tried to stop the theft, he was attacked by two male suspects. During the assault, the victim was knocked unconscious and struck his head on the ground. The suspects then assaulted a second victim who attempted to intervene and stop the attack.

Through further investigation, detectives identified the suspects as Olivas and Gregoire. Both men are members of the Sons of Silence Motorcycle Club. Arrest warrants were obtained for both suspects. On Monday, June 8, Olivas and Gregoire turned themselves in and were booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
