Detectives with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Unit have arrested Gina Sagona, 44, for one count of cruelty to a juvenile. Detectives also arrested Mark Sagona, 45, for principal to cruelty to a juvenile.
On Monday, April 27, detectives responded to a report from DCFS regarding a child abuse incident involving a 14-year-old male at the Sagona residence. During the investigation, detectives reviewed home video footage showing Gina Sagona force the juvenile face down into dog urine and then drag him through it. The juvenile was also struck multiple times.
The footage also showed Mark Sagona present during portions of the incident.
During an interview with detectives, Gina Sagona admitted to the abuse. Both Gina and Mark Sagona were arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. This is an ongoing investigation.
NOTE: According to APSO’s website, both of the accused were booked into Parish Jail on Monday (April 27) evening where they remain at present. Gina Sagona’s bail is set at $50,000. Mark Sagona’s bail is set at $40,000.
