Guilty Pleas (three dozen) for the Week of April 20-24

During the week of April 20 – April 24, 2026, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court – Ascension Parish:

  • Reginald Bell, 7112 Moran Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 55, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight from an Officer and Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000. The defendant was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  • Gustavo Castellon, 12365 Samuel Babin Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 40, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery – Pregnant Person and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  • On June 16, 2025, Malik Fowler of 912 S Abe Ave. Gonzales, LA, age 24, pled guilty to Manslaughter. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. On April 21, 2026, the defendant was sentenced to 20 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 15 years of the said sentence are to be served, and the remaining 5 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  • Semaj Jenkins, 413 W Bordelon St. Gonzales, LA, age 17, pled guilty to Second Degree Battery and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 1 year of the said sentence is to be served, and the remaining 4 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 4 years supervised probation.
  • John Jones, 40129 Hwy 74 Gonzales, LA, age 41, pled guilty to Illegal Use of Weapons and Aggravated Assault with a Firearm. The defendant was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1 year supervised probation.
  • Taylor Latil, 37429 Southwood Village Prairieville, LA, age 31, pled guilty to Introducing Contraband Into or Upon the Grounds of any State Correctional Institution and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  • On October 20, 2025, Daniel Looper of 7534 Trail View Dr. Gonzales, LA, age 74, pled guilty to Violation of Conditions of Probation, Parole, and Suspension of Sentence by Sex Offender and Failure to Comply with Provisions of Supervised Release. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. On April 21, 2026, the defendant was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  • Santiago Mateo – Sanchez, 18338 Donna St. Prairieville, LA, age 20, pled guilty to Possession of Pornography Involving Juveniles (6 counts), Distribution, Manufacture, or Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoids, Distribution, Manufacture, or Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Illegal Carrying of Weapons (2 counts). Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.
  • Christopher McCumber, 15434 Palmetto Lane Prairieville, LA, age 55, pled guilty to Simple Arson and was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  • Wade Melancon, 39421 Richardson Rd. Prairieville, LA, age 56, pled guilty to Battery of a Police Officer While in Custody or While Detained and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The said sentence is to be served consecutively to any sentence the defendant is already serving.
  • Raymond Pinder, 6214 Waldo Dr. New Orleans, LA, age 52, pled guilty to Mail Theft and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  • Charles Verda, 5 Bubba Phillips Dr. Wiggins, MS, age 51, pled guilty to Automobile Insurance Policies Fraud and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  • Kason Bruno, 18647 Ducros Rd. Prairieville, LA, age 21, pled guilty to Illegal Use of Weapons and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1 year supervised probation.
  • On October 21, 2025, Melissa Johnston of 30139 Pine Alley Killian, LA, age 47, pled guilty to Simple Burglary. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. On April 21, 2026, the defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  • Jason Robertson, 209 W Bordelon Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 19, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  • James Rush, 12285 Village Dr. Walker, LA, age 35, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and Theft Valued at $5,000 or More, but Less than $25,000. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  • Jacob Trejo, 12424 Cleo Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 20, pled guilty to Possession of Pornography Involving Juveniles (6 counts). Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.

  • Kendrick Anderson, 10622 Toledo Bend Ave. Baton Rouge, LA, age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm/Convicted of Domestic Abuse and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  • Gareth Leblanc, 5658 Hyacinth Ave. Baton Rouge, LA, age 22, pled guilty to False Swearing Public Health and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  • Augustine Alexander, 1718 Columbus St. New Orleans, LA, age 64, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  • Samuel Bratton, 915 Montgomery Ave. Denham Springs, LA, age 21, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  • Travis Cargo, 800 Riverview Cir. Donaldsonville, LA, age 33, pled guilty to Aggravated Second Degree Battery and was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  • Sage Clifton, Donaldsonville, LA, age 25, pled guilty to Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  • Drake Daigle, 42402 Cannon Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  • Hiram Johnson, 3501 Apollo Dr. Metairie, LA, age 45, pled guilty to Aggravated Second Degree Battery and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  • Kevin Knight, 4205 St. Anthony Ave. New Orleans, LA, age 39, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Things Valued Less than $25,000 and Flight From an Officer. The defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  • Adrian Liborio, 15457 Roy Rogers Rd. Prairieville, LA, age 28, pled guilty to Manslaughter and Attempted Manslaughter. The defendant was sentenced to 20 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  • Konner Melancon, 130 Whitney St. Lafayette, LA, age 33, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment and was sentenced to 5 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  • Marshall Rambin, 17138 Penn Blvd. Prairieville, LA, age 41, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  • Tyler Rice, 10314 Hwy 431 St. Amant, LA, age 35, pled guilty to Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  • Jaquentin Riley, 35231 Julie Dr. Donaldsonville, LA, age 20, pled guilty to Simple Burglary (3 counts) and was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 4 years supervised probation.
  • David Rodriguez Correa Jr., 3700 Hwy 405 Donaldsonville, LA, age 35, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  • Titus Ruth, 8544 St. Landry Ave. Gonzales, LA, age 34, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  • Thedrick Turner, 3831 Daytona Ave. Baton Rouge, LA, age 36, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 (2 counts) and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  • Andy Veazy, 7324 Alberta Dr. Baton Rouge, LA, age 61, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  • Jesse Nigro, 6522 Audubon Blvd. Sorrento, LA, age 31, pled guilty to Pornography Involving Juveniles (5 counts) and was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The said sentence is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant must register and notify as a sex offender or child predator for a period of 25 years.
