Prairieville man arrested for Child Sexual Abuse Materials, abuse of animal

On Thursday, April 23, detectives with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, in coordination with the Office of the Louisiana Attorney General, arrested Cody Madere of Gonzales.

He is charged with 16 counts of Child Sexual Abuse Materials, six counts of Child Sexual Abuse Materials Under 13, and one count of Sexual Abuse of an Animal.

On March 30, 2026, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office received information regarding possible child sexual abuse materials associated with a personal electronic device that was later turned over to APSO.

Through a search warrant, detectives with the ICAC Task Force located several files depicting child sexual abuse materials on the device, including six involving children under the age of 13 and one depicting sexual abuse of an animal. Investigators determined the device belonged to Madere and that he had accessed and downloaded the files.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Madere, along with a search warrant for his residence. Detectives located Madere at the residence and took him into custody. He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
