The Louisiana Freedom Caucus today issued a strong condemnation of threats of physical violence on social media directed at members of the Legislature following the recent House Natural Resources Committee hearing on HB7.
House Bill 7 would repeal current law which authorizes the use of expropriation by pipeline companies that transport carbon dioxide for geologic storage. The bill was killed in the House Committee on Natural Resources and Environment earlier this week as committee members on either side of the issue accusing the others of violation of the Ten Commandments.
The vote was 12-7 to nix the bill with Ascension Representative Ken Brass in the majority. None of Ascension’s three other reps sits on the committee.
Louisiana leads the nation by a comfortable margin in the number of planned carbon capture projects.
