Third suspect in Donaldsonville homicide taken into custody

On Wednesday, June 15, Donovan Starks, 21, of Gonzales was arrested in relation to the homicide of Cedrick Mumprey. He is charged with second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, Illegal use of weapons, aggravated damage to property, simple criminal damage to property, aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a firearm.

On Monday May 30, at approximately 11:41pm, deputies with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting incident at a residence on West Second Street in Donaldsonville. Upon arrival, deputies found Cedrick Mumphrey, 37, outside the residence suffering from multiple gunshots wounds. Mumphrey was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Through further investigation, detectives identified Donovan Starks, along with Johntez Ezeff, 21, of Donaldsonville and a 17-year-old male, as suspects. All three subjects have since been arrested.
