In the race for Gonzales City Council-Division C incumbent Harold Stewart got 32% of the vote in a three-horse race on Tuesday, setting up a December 5 runoff against top vote-getter, Terri Lambert (37%). The third time was not the charm for William Robinson whose 31% performance marked the third time that Stewart has bested him at the polls. Lambert, a Republican, has not run for elective office before.
Stewart enjoyed a healthy lead when early vote tallies were posted initially. Passed by Lambert he was able to hold off Robinson, the odd man out who made up almost 100 votes on Stewart in Election Day voting. Lambert outperformed them both on Tuesday.
