OLOL donates acreage to build connector diverting traffic from Hwy 30

Road network in yellow, Heritage Crossing has already built its connections to Hwy 44

In the works for quite a long time, plans to construct a road south of (and parallel to) Hwy 30 in Gonzales just took a major step forward.  On Monday the city council approved an Act of Donation whereby Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, LLC gives 3.8 acres for “a new roadway to connect S Darla Avenue to a new proposed roadway connecting St. Francis Parkway within Heritage Crossing Development.”

Heritage Crossing finished its section of the roadway over a year ago.  Extending it westward to S Darla is part of the City of Gonzales’ Master Street Plan.

Gonzales Master Street Plan (adopted August 2015 as part of Master Growth Plan)

The parties stipulate that “the value of the Donated Property is $478,747.”  3.8 acres of prime Gonzales real estate, additional access to OLOL’s hospital and medical clinics through a 16.5 acre undeveloped tract between OLOL’s campus and Heritage Crossing.

Don’t expect it to remain undeveloped.  Ongoing speculation has centered on future medical office buildings.
