Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB) announces the encore broadcast showing of our limited-series, e – a late night exploration of classic French films. Audiences can tune-in statewide on LPB and on WLAE in New Orleans beginning Sunday, November 20 at 10:00 PM.
The series features six films broadcast in their native French with English subtitles available. For more on the films and the series go to www.lpb.org/cinemafrancais.
The series is hosted by Dr. William Arceneaux, founder of La Fondation Louisiane and board member of The Foundation for Excellence in Louisiana Public Broadcasting. He introduces the films, providing a bit of history and humor each week. “Because Francophones and Francophiles abound in Louisiana, this series has always found a receptive audience,” says Dr. Arceneaux. “From an educational perspective, LPB Presents: Cinéma Français provides teachers and students of French with another approach to expand their appreciation and understanding of the French language.”
LPB Presents: Cinéma Français is part of LPB’s overall mission to showcase Louisiana’s unique culture and history, which includes our ongoing support of the preservation and promotion of our French language and heritage. In addition to LPB Presents: Cinéma Français, LPB offers La Veillée, in partnership with Télé-Louisiane, as well as French language children’s programming on the LPB PBS KIDS 24/7 channel and an extensive archive video collection of French programs available on the Louisiana Digital Media Archive website.
LPB has also developed a Spotify playlist inspired by the series, featuring iconic French music from movies and beyond. Stream the playlist by searching for Louisiana Public Broadcasting on Spotify. For more information, go to www.lpb.org/cinemafrancais
