Local VFW recognizes two of APSO’s finest at awards ceremony

Sheriff Bobby Webre and the entire APSO family would like congratulate Sgt. Misty Turner and Sgt. Brock Carpenter who were recognized for their work in law enforcement during the VFW Awards Ceremony last night.

Sgt. Misty Turner received the Public Servant Award, which is well deserved. Sgt. Turner plays a big role in our Community Outreach Division where she helps manage several of our programs including Seniors and Lawmen Together (SALT), Junior Deputies, the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run, Christmas Crusade, and so much more.

Sgt. Brock Carpenter received the Life Saving Award. Sgt. Carpenter responded to a call regarding a submerged vehicle. After calling for emergency crews, he immediately jumped into action and entered the water. Sgt. Carpenter managed to break one of the windows and pull the family to safety before the vehicle became fully submerged.

We are so grateful to have such outstanding deputies who are dedicated to protecting and serving the citizens of Ascension Parish.
