Donaldsonville contributes $50,000 to APSO Task Force operations

(L-r): Mayor Leroy Sullivan, Sheriff Bobby Webre, and Lt. Col. Donald Capello.

Mayor Leroy Sullivan and City Council presented Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office with a $50,000 ceremonial check recently, evidencing Donaldsonville’s support of the Task Force begun to “address a recent increase in crimes.”  The city opted to abolish its police department in the 1980s, contracting with the Sheriff’s Office for law enforcement services ever since.  Among the Task Force’s plans, “patrolling crime hotspots on selected dates and times.”

Sheriff Bobby Webre: “As Sheriff, I work with our parish leaders to find real solutions to help keep all our residents in this great parish safe.  That’s done by funding law enforcement to ensure personnel and assets can be concentrated where it’s needed.  I want to thank Mayor Sullivan and the Donaldsonville City Council for supporting our resolve to protect and serve the citizens of Ascension Parish.”
