Council resolves 2-mill renewal for Public Health Center

Thursday’s meeting, devoid of controversial issues, provided a much-needed respite for an embattled Ascension Council.  Extending the existing contracts of 11 engineering firms working on the Move Ascension transportation initiative, giving BASF another tax exemption, adoption of an ordinance implementing April 24’s successful ballot initiative on east bank sewer…all pro forma.  They did call for a property tax election on November 13.

A Resolution ordering and calling a special election to be held in the Parish of Ascension, State Louisiana (the “Parish”) on Saturday, November 13, 2021, for the purpose of authorizing the renewal of a two (2.0) mill tax on assessed valuation of all property subject to taxation in the Parish, for a period of ten (10) years for the purpose of maintaining and supporting the Ascension Parish Public Health Center, including buildings, maintenance expenses and other related health care expenses; and further making application to the State Bond Commission for consent and authorization to hold the aforesaid election; and further providing for other matters in connection therewith.
