RJ Daigle & Sons has begun construction on the new $3 million road in the City of Gonzales, designed to provide better access to OLOL Ascension Hospital and relieve traffic on Hwy 30. The road, when completed, will connect Hwy 44 (S Burnside Ave) to S Darla Ave to the west in keeping with Gonzales’ Master Transportation plan’s goal of diverting that Hwy 30 traffic. An existing segment runs east from Hwy 44, through Heritage Crossing where the new roadwork resumes.
Mayor Barney Arceneaux and Gonzales City Council credited the State Legislative delegation for securing matching funds to defray much of the costs recently.
