Julio Dumas (Resident of District 2)

General Skills That May Help Board:

I have a planning and zoning background and understand the process very well.  I have worked with staff to stream line processes and ensure compliance with the Code of Ordinances.  I am well aware of both the infrastructure challenges of the Parish, the lack of suitable funding and always seek to find a means to ensure a developer adequately addresses the impacts of their proposed project.

Main Goals for Joining Board:

Comprehensive enforcement of the Code to ensure the Parish’s goals and objectives are met and all impacts to the community are mitigated to the extent possible.  Address issues and mitigate the impacts of development within the parameters of the law as adopted by the Council as well as all Parish Policies.

Shannon D. Hutchings (Resident of District 4)

General Skills That May Help Board:

I practiced law for 15 years with an emphasis on real property.  I am familiar with both sides of the planning & zoning process.  I am experienced with maps, surveys, and legal descriptions.

Main Goals for Joining Board:

To promote the efficient use and disposition of land in Ascension parish while regulating growth to prevent overcrowding and the decline of land values.

Aaron Chaisson, Jr. (Resident of District 7)

General Skills That May Help Board:

I have served 4 years on the board and have a working knowledge of the board’s procedures as well as the code.  I am an attorney with working knowledge of interpretation of statutes and codes, which will be valuable when we start rewriting the UDC (Unified Land Development Code).

Main Goals for Joining Board:

There are multiple portions of the UDC that need to be rewritten to clarify sections that are vague, and to promote safety and infrastructure driven development.  I believe my experience on the board has allowed me to see where the code can be improved, and my technical expertise as an attorney gives me the capability to make those changes.  I will also continue to be fair in judging each project on a case by case basis considering its individual merits and impact on our parish’s infrastructure in accordance with the UDC, Master Plan and prevailing codes and statutes.
