Ascension Parish Government employees practicing social distancing

Ascension Parish Government employees are on the job and practicing social distancing to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“Our staff members are employing the same safety procedures we are asking the public to practice,” said Parish President Clint Cointment. “Most of our office staff are working remotely from home. DPW employees are in the field, but practicing social distancing.”

Department of Public Works employees have been divided into two groups, with each group alternately working 7 days on and 7 days off. Residents may see more vehicles than usual at a job location as we are practicing social distancing even in vehicles. People are asked to give them room to do their jobs.

“We have to be mindful that hurricane season begins in a little more than two months,” said Cointment. “Working in shifts like this will ensure we have staff available for rain events and/or other natural disasters.”

Cointment asks the public to call the Citizens Service Center at 225-450-1200 when needing any services from Parish Government, particularly from DPW or Drainage. Staff members are present and answering calls during normal weekday working hours. Online requests can be made at
