This year, the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge presents two Artsplosion! Camps for youth enrolled in grades 3 – 8. The first will be held April 13-17th 2020 and the second will be held July 27-31st 2020. Both camps will be located at 427 Laurel Street, and will have Before & After Care options available for a small fee. The registration fee is $260 per child, and applications are open on the Arts Council’s website at www.artsbr.org/artsed.
The theme for this year’s Artsplosion! Camps is “My Best Self.” Both camps are uniquely designed to guide youth toward positive lifestyle choices through the arts. Campers will explore the correlations between nutrition, physical activity, and overall health through age-appropriate, non-competitive games and activities. These camps will allow participants to engage in experimental art making, creative writing, poetry, and dance classes. Each component will focus on sparking interest and promoting creative self-expression.
“We want all campers to understand their unique creativities and to utilize them in healthy ways,” Says the Arts Council’s Director of Education Leea Russell. A limited number of needs-based scholarships for both camps are being provided by generous support from the Capital Area United Way.
