Joint investigation leads to drug arrest, seizure of 29 lbs of marijuana

According to Sheriff Bobby Webre, a joint investigation with Ascension Sheriff Narcotics Detectives and the Baton Rouge Police Department led to the arrest of  27-year-old Tyrode Brown of Prairieville on multiple drug charges.

On Wednesday, November 20, detectives began an investigation that a package containing 21 pounds of marijuana was set to be delivered to a storage facility in Prairieville.

Brown arrived on scene in an attempt to collect the package and was arrested.

As the investigation continued, a search warrant of Brown’s vehicle and the storage unit was conducted and an additional eight pounds of marijuana were located, bringing the total to 29 pounds of marijuana seized. Detectives also located an AR-15 rifle, a semi-automatic handgun, a digital scale, and several vape pen cartridges for manufacturing of THC vape pens.

Brown was charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of marijuana, two counts of illegal carrying of weapons, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where no bond has been set yet.
