Team Captains: 2019 Lady Gator State Champs

St. Amant Gator Fans, please focus your attention to field as tonight, St. Amant Principal Beth Templet, Athletic Director David Oliver and St. Amant Fire Chief & Booster Club President James LeBlanc recognize the 2019 Lady Gator Softball State Softball Champions, as tonight’s team captains.

These young ladies bought in early and went to work with a goal to just be a little better than the previous day. Replacing 7 senior starters with 7 first time starters isn’t an ideal situation but this team embraced it.  It wasn’t unusual to see a line up card with 15 players that stepped on the field to fulfill a vital role.

Led by the District MVP Alyssa Romano and the State Championship MVP Julia Kramer the Lady Gators were undefeated once again in district play and named District Champions for the 8th year in a row.  The Lady Gators had 10 players receive 1st Team All District honors.

After beating the defending State Champion Ouachita by a score of 13-1, the Lady Gators advanced to the State Tournament. In the final game the Lady Gators defeated Barbe High School by the score of 3-1 to finish the season 28-2 and bring home their 6th State Title.  The Lady Gators placed 4 players on the coaches All State team and 2 on the sportswriters All State team.  The Lady Gators were also finalist for the Star of Stars team of the year.
