St. Amant Volunteer FD receives radios from Nutrien Chemical Facility

St. Amant –   Communication is always key for firefighters once they arrive on the scene of a structure fire or any kind of emergency scene. The St. Amant & 5th Ward Volunteer Fire Departments received great news this week when they received several new radios from the Geismar Nutrien Chemical Facility.

St. Amant & 5th Ward Volunteer Fire Chief James E. LeBlanc, stated. “These donated radios are a major asset to our communities. Communication is key on the fire grounds, and with the addition of these new radios, we will be able to make sure all our members have updated equipment”. We are very excited to receive the new radio’s, “This is a very generous donation from the Geismar Nutrien Facility, and we greatly appreciate their support to the Volunteer Fire Departments of Ascension Parish, stated LeBlanc.

Chief LeBlanc, said it’s difficult for volunteer fire departments with small budgets to upgrade equipment as often as they’d like. Without the assistance from Nutrien Chemical Facility, it would’ve taken the fire department a few extra years to purchase these radios.

“We are extremely grateful for Nutrien generous donation,” St. Amant/5th. Ward Chief James E. LeBlanc said. “These new portable radios will help us further our efforts to protect our residents and our personnel responding to their needs.”

The Nutrien Facility also recently donated a Thermal Imaging Camera to the St. Amant & 5th Ward Volunteer Fire Departments.
