Canary Islanders’ influence on Louisiana presented at D’ville Library (9/19)

The Canary Islanders settled Louisiana in the late 18th century. The role of Spain in the development of Louisiana is integral to our development culturally and historically. The descendants of the Canary Island people symbolize the last living remnant of Spanish colonial Louisiana. Speaker, Mr. Stephen Estopinal is from St. Bernard and Plaquemines Parishes and is a descendant of the Canary Islanders. Mr. Estopinal is also, a Civil Engineer and U.S. Army veteran. He will be at the Ascension Parish library in Donaldsonville, on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at 6:00 PM to give a presentation on the Canary Islanders.

Following his presentation, he will do a book signing on historical fiction novels he has written about the Canary Islanders.  Registration is required, so call the library in Donaldsonville at 473-8052 to reserve your spot today!
