Gonzales store closes, Salvation Army maintains social services in Ascension

On August 26, 2019 The Salvation Army closed its doors to the Family Store on Bayou Narcisse in Gonzales.

While engaged in the search for a more accessible Family Store location in Ascension Parish, The Salvation Army is referring capital region bargain shoppers to visit the newest Family Store, located at 10420 Coursey Boulevard in Baton Rouge (next to Home Depot).  The Airline Highway Family Store received substantial damage in the flood of 2016 is in the process of rebuilding, with plans to re-open in 2020.

Salvation Army social services to those in need in Ascension Parish continue.  Entergy “Power to Care” and clothing assistance will be offered by The Salvation Army from the First United Methodist Church of Gonzales.  Seasonal outreach, such as Thanksgiving dinners and Angel Tree Christmas assistance continue the Army’s rich history of Doing the Most Good in Ascension.  Major Donald Tekautz noted, “we are most grateful to Pastor Steve Berger and the First United Methodist Church of Gonzales for affording us the space and partnership to continue serving in Ascension Parish.”
