The road transfer of Hwy 930, from DOTD to Ascension Parish, was executed and recorded with the Clerk of Court as of Monday. The Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA) was announced at the Transportation Committee meeting that night, along with news that $1.72 million will be transferred from the state immediately with three equal installments totaling $3.2 million to follow annually. Hwy 934 (Gold Place Road) and various service frontage roads were also part of the deal, approved by the Parish Council last June, with all funds going toward rebuilding of Hwy 930.
The roadway, among the worst Ascension has to offer, divides one of the most controversial subdivisions approved for development in recent memory. Redesign of the new Hwy 930 “is just about complete” according to HNTB engineers, the firm tasked with managing MoveAscension, the parish’s road improvement initiative.
