Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge Summer offers Classes and Camps

Baton Rouge, LA– May 31, 2019 The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge is once again offering summer classes for adults of all backgrounds. These classes will be occurring in addition to its regular Artsplosion! Summer Camp for children and the Visual Art Mini Camp for middle and high school aged kids.

Each of the courses in the Summer Arts Classes is led by a local teaching artist and designed to expand the horizons of its students by allowing them to meet new people through the practice of Art. The courses are as follows:

Fun and Fundamentals of Drawing — Part 2
Movement Improv
Adult Hip Hop
Mind, Body, Spirit, Home

Summer classes will begin June 20th at 427 Laurel Street and will continue through the end of July.

The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge is once again offering Artsplosion! Summer Camp for the capital’s youngest artists. Held at the Arts Council headquarters downtown, Artsplosion! utilizes its proximity to museums and other cultural opportunities. With the help of professional teaching artists in the area, afternoons will be spent exploring the creative process through movement, music, drama, and the literary and visual arts.

Artsplosion! Summer Camp occurs on July 29th through August 2nd from 8:00am-3:30pm. The ideal age group for Artsplosion! are children between the ages of 5 and 10 or children enrolling in grades kindergarten through fifth grade for the 2019-2020 school year.

In addition to Summer Classes for adults and the Artsplosion! Summer Camp for children, The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge is also offering a Visual Art Mini Camp for middle and high school students. In this mini camp, both middle and high schoolers will be guided through mixed media projects in an effort to develop their creative interests further. With two separate sessions for both groups, this mini camp will incorporate drawing, painting, weaving, and other artistic methods to generate excitement. The Visual Art Mini Camp will begin on July 22nd through July 29th. 9:00am-12:00pm is the session for the Middle Schoolers and 1:00pm-4:00pm is the session for the high schoolers. Registration for campers should be based on their grade level for the 2019- 2020 school year.
