The 23rd Judicial District Bar Association is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for its annual scholarship program. This year, the Bar Association will award a total of four (4) scholarships of $1,000 each to high school seniors who apply from Ascension, Assumption, and St. James Parishes. The selection of winners will be based on criteria of academic achievement, community service, and financial need. Since 2006, the Bar Association has provided annual scholarships to qualified applicants graduating from high schools located in Ascension, Assumption, and St. James Parishes. The funds for these scholarships are comprised of donations from attorneys and judges who are members of the 23rd JDC Bar Association.
“Pursuing a secondary education can open many valuable doors for a young individual, and therefore a pursuit of this path should not only be encouraged, but rewarded. This is why as members of the 23rd JDC Bar Association, we have decided to award four high school seniors, who through their commitment to serving not only their schools, but also their communities have demonstrated true character and leadership. Young men and women who volunteer their time in doing selfless acts for others often do so out of the goodness of their hearts and not for any monetary incentive. This is our way of thanking those individuals-hopefully we can do some good in their life just as they’ve done for others.”
-Chris McNeil, 2019 President, 23rd JDC Bar Association
Interested seniors should contact their high school counselors for an application or send a request to firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for submission of applications is April 30, 2019.
